With the new year looking to make changes. So lets start with drinking more water. One jug of 128 oz of water will fill my water bottle 4 times, so lets start there to empty the jug each day!
Molly’s Twin Calves
In the Spring of 2010 Austin came home and said that he did not want to play baseball or basketball anymore, he just wanted to show a cow at the fair. So working for Grandpa Bill at the farm he bought Molly his first Red Angus cow. We had now idea what you needed to do to show a cow at the fair, so I called the fair office and asked them if they had anyone that we could contact that could help him in getting started. He showed at the Scott County 4H fair in July 2010 for the first time, had such a great time and said he was coming back next year and bringing more!! There has been no looking back since then. Molly’s calf last year was stillborn, but this year she made up for it by having twins!!
Good Friends
Where does the time go. Hard to believe that 12 years ago we were in the process of building our new home and we were renting the basement of a home and the owner Rick and his 2 daughters, Becca & Ashley lived upstairs that we by chance had meet through an ad we found for renting. In August of 2012 Rick married a great lady, Renee and we have remained good friends. Tonight we picked them up to go out to dinner and as we came to the door was this great sign welcoming us to the “Hogen’s Country Inn”. So when they answered the door, we said we would like to check in for the next six months!!
Melting Away…..
Insurance
I have had the same insurance company for the past 30 years, but over the past year as we become more involved with cattle and crops, I have been checking into other insurance companies that will actually cover farmers and all our needs. It seemed strange when I asked about adding a farm policy to cover cattle, that a company that had farmers in their name could not help. I have meet several times now with the MN Farm Bureau agent and in doing comparisons for autos the pricing is much better and they will actually cover all the farm insurance needs we are looking for and also handles life insurance too. Going to meet again next week.to just confirm we have everything covered we want but looking like we will be making the switch.
No More Diet Coke
Anytime…..
Yesterday I started working out at the New Prague Anytime Fitness center. I have been so stressed for the past year and just decided this week was all about new beginnings and need to get into a routine again. I made it for an hour on the bike, so will try the treadmill today for an hour. My goal this week is to come for an hour each day to get moving again.
My Dad
My dad has always been there for my mom and our entire family. He is the rock that holds us all together. He is such an important part of my life and has helped to shape me to the person I am today. He celebrated his 69th birthday this week in Florida with mom and friends. We miss having him here with us in Minnesota but I am sure that he is glad he missed the winter this year. This week has brought a big change to my life and as dad said things happen for a reason and you will do great things. I am looking forward to the new opportunities that are to come this year.
